Feng Shui Guide for Bedrooms

There are many things to consider when it comes to the internal arrangements of a home. Three things, however, stand out. These are the location and orientation of the main door, the location of the kitchen, the position and orientation of the stove and the selection of and placement of beds within the rooms.

Selecting the right Feng Shui bedroom and placing and orientating the bed correctly contributes greatly to the overall Feng Shui of a house. There are ways to ascertain the most suitable Feng Shui bedroom for each member of the family.

Here, I’ll focus on the placement and orientation of the bed within the bedroom. It’s a good practice to place the head of the bed against a wall for support. You can also place the bedhead against a window but be sure to have a thick curtain for support. Another rule is that the head of the bed should not share a common wall with the toilet.

Both the Flying Star and Eight Mansions System have their own method in selecting the best position and orientation of the bed. It’s better to use the latter as it is much easier to understand and apply. In this method, we derive the suitable position and orientation of the bed from a person’s Kua number which tells us his or her auspicious and inauspicious directions. The Kua number is dependent on the person’s date of birth and sex.
